Gary Powell founded this firm with a simple belief: great architecture starts with listening. Before a single line is drawn, we take the time to understand how you live, how you work, and what you want your space to feel like.
With a team of 20 dedicated professionals — architects, planners, and project managers — we bring the resources of a larger firm with the personal attention of a boutique practice. Gary remains hands-on with every project from concept through construction administration.

Gary Powell, AIA
Gary Powell has spent more than 25 years shaping the built environment of Florida's Treasure Coast. A licensed architect and NCARB-certified professional, Gary earned his Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Florida and began his career with regional firms in South Florida before establishing Gary Powell Architecture & Planning, LLC in Stuart.
His practice spans custom residential design, home additions and renovations, and small-scale commercial architecture — with a particular expertise in Florida's coastal construction requirements, flood zone compliance, and the permitting landscape of Martin, St. Lucie, and Indian River counties.
Gary is known for his hands-on approach: he is personally involved in every project from the first client conversation through construction administration. Clients consistently cite his ability to translate complex technical requirements into clear, buildable designs — and his commitment to delivering projects that feel right for the people who live and work in them.
Outside the office, Gary is an active member of the Stuart community, a longtime supporter of local preservation efforts, and a passionate advocate for thoughtful, context-sensitive design along Florida's coastline.
